The best seasons are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) when the weather is clear, temperatures are moderate, and mountain views are spectacular. Monsoon season (June–August) brings heavy rain, landslides, and slippery trails, while winter (December–February) can be very cold with snow at higher altitudes.
The highest point is Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) at 4,130 meters. Proper acclimatization is necessary to avoid altitude sickness.
The trek is considered moderate. It involves uphill climbs, rocky trails, and long walking days. Fitness, stamina, and some prior trekking experience help, but beginners can also complete it with preparation.
Typically, the trek takes 10–12 days including travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara and back, with 5–6 days of trekking from Jhinu Danda or Nayapul to ABC and back.
Lower elevations (Jhinu Danda, Chhomrong): 15–25°C during the day, 5–10°C at night.
Higher elevations (Dovan, Deurali, ABC): 5–15°C during the day, -5–5°C at night.
Temperatures drop further in winter, and early mornings can be very cold.
