The journey from Kathmandu to Dhap is a scenic overland drive through Nepal’s mid-hills, passing rivers, terraced farmland, and small towns. The road is partly paved and partly rough, especially toward the end, but it offers beautiful countryside views and an authentic local travel experience. Dhap is the main starting point of the Pikey Peak Trek.

The trail from Dhap to Jhapre is an easy and pleasant walk through rhododendron forests, terraced fields, and small Sherpa settlements. You’ll enjoy the first clear mountain views along the Pikey Peak route, with chances to see Everest on a clear day. Jhapre is a quiet village with monasteries and comfortable teahouses, ideal for the first overnight stop.

The trail gradually ascends through lush forests, alpine meadows, and yak pastures. Along the way, you’ll pass traditional Sherpa villages and small monasteries. As you approach Pikey Base Camp, the terrain becomes more open, offering panoramic views of the eastern Himalayas, including Everest, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga. This is the perfect place to rest before the early morning hike to the summit.

Junbesi is a charming village with traditional teahouses and a famous monastery, making it an ideal stop for rest after the summit day.

Phaplu has an airport and comfortable lodges, making it a convenient point to end the trek and return to Kathmandu by road or flight.
